Preliminary evaluation of the Special Programme on Primary Health Care

In 2020, WHO established the Special Programme on Primary Health Care to provide better integration across all levels of the Organisation. This formative evaluation will assess how the functions and activities of this programme have contributed to better integration of efforts towards primary health care objectives at global, regional and country level thus far. The evaluation will identify enabling factors and challenges and draw lessons learned from country- and disease-specific contexts that can be scaled up in the future. Finally, the evaluation will make recommendations for the way forward of the Special Programme on Primary Health Care to fulfill its mandate for sustained progress towards Universal Health Care, Primary Health Care and the SDGs.
