Strengthening governance in primary health care in Kyrgyzstan

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) funded EHG to implement a new long-term project in Kyrgyzstan to reduce non-communicable diseases, with a focus on hypertension, diabetes, breast and cervical cancer. It aims to strengthen the primary health care system through information, education and communication (IEC) activities. The project is implemented in  consortium with GFA Consulting Group as lead and Healthy Future as a subcontractor.

One of the central aspects of this project is to support behaviour change in the population towards healthier lifestyles. EHG expertise is used to develop population measures for IEC. Central to the inception phase was developing the conceptual backbone for IEC campaigns. To date the project has developed a communication strategy for Kyrgyzstan. This includes the use of new information technologies such as social media or text messages, to further enrich and support motivation for a change towards healthier lifestyles.
